A North Georgia Intimate Wedding at Amicalola Falls State Park

If you know me, you know this place is special. 🍁☁️

Amicalola Falls State Park isn’t just a stunning destination—it’s sacred ground to me. I used to walk these trails weekly, letting the sound of rushing water and the towering trees reset my heart. It’s a place that holds deep meaning, and when couples choose to say their vows here, I know it’s going to be something extraordinary.

Planning an intimate wedding at Amicalola Falls isn’t without its challenges. With steep trails, heavy foot traffic, and the logistics of navigating the park, it’s no surprise that many photographers hesitate to take on the task. But when Madisyn reached out about documenting her wedding here, she told me I wasn’t the first photographer she had contacted. Others had told her it wasn’t possible.

But the thing is, I don’t believe in “impossible” when it comes to love stories.

Madisyn and Dylan’s wedding day began in one of the cozy cabins within the park, where they got ready surrounded by their closest family and friends. The cabins are not only a beautiful and peaceful retreat but also a perfect option for loved ones to stay together for the wedding weekend.

Before the ceremony, the couple opted to have a first look and exchange private vows. It was such a tender moment—one where they could simply breathe, take in the moment, and share their love without any distractions. When it came time to decide who would say their vows first, they settled it in the best way possible: a round of rock paper scissors. Madisyn lost, so she went first, which brought a moment of lighthearted laughter before the heartfelt words began.

Because they had around 30-40 guests in attendance, Madisyn and Dylan chose to hold their ceremony at the lodge, which overlooks the mountains. The space was perfect, offering a breathtaking backdrop and an intimate, cozy atmosphere that felt just right for their day.

After the ceremony, we hiked down to the base of the falls, where we were lucky enough to have the waterfall all to ourselves. The mist kissed their cheeks as they embraced, taking in the beauty of the moment. It was peaceful, magical, and everything they had dreamed of.

We ended our time together watching the sun set over the ridge-line, the sky painted in soft, golden hues. As the daylight faded, the couple returned to the lodge to celebrate with their loved ones over a delicious dinner, warming up by the fire and soaking in the joy of the day.
