It’s 2020. The world feels like it’s falling apart. COVID-19 feels likes it’s taken over the world. But it can’t get much worse right??
Well, one would think.
Sadly for Breanna + Kaleb things got worse. Real quick. About 3 days before the wedding, their original wedding location – a beach off the North Carolina Coast – was closed and evacuated because Hurricane Isaias came ripping through the eastern U.S. coast.
So it wasn’t COVID-19 that forced them to pivot…but in fact something ELSE. Can’t we get a break soon, 2020?!
However these two had a solid plan B that was put together within that short timeframe because of their love of the mountains. It was an easy choice, and with the helped of devoted family and friends, this group pulled off one of the most intimate and lovely weddings.
2020 is teaching us a lot of things this year – disappointing us even. We can put our hopes far in one direction, only to have them wiped out in the blink of an eye. We can be angry, frustrated, devastated.
These two felt all those things – they had a RIGHT too. But the amazing thing within it all? Those CHOSE to step into the mindset of joy.
To be present on their day whether it was Plan B or Z. To celebrate with those that worked SO hard to be there with them. To love each other through every trail – to find joy in the moments where it seems to be missing.
It was an absolute blessing to witness this beautiful attitude – a reminder that a wedding is not just about a location but about each other and the people that are there with you.
At the end of the day, B+ K came to one of my favorite places to say their vows with close friends and family in an intimate gathering of intimacy, joy, and foggy mountains.
It could not have been a more beautiful day, and the way these people loved and served could not be matched and I LOVED getting to witness every bit of it.
Not to mention the beautiful, peaceful attitudes and the trust in that God’s plan was bigger that was all so evident in the hearts of these people and WOW. This is what makes doing what I do so special.
P.S. If you know me you know I geek out over National Parks + signage. Basically what I am saying is I almost cried when B+K took on my offer of taking pictures in front of the Smokey Mountain National Park sign. My heart was FULL.
