A Foggy Engagement in the North Carolina Mountains
There is one thing about being a photographer that I have learned so very deeply and that is how photography truly makes you appreciate the unpredictable beauty of nature. Megan & Darren came all the way from Mississippi (they drove HUNDREDS of miles) on a journey to the enchanting mountains near Asheville, North Carolina, for their dreamy engagement session. Little did they know that Mother Nature had a surprise in store for us—fog that draped the mountain like a mystical veil.
As we reached the mountain top, the fog was so thick that we couldn’t see the sprawling views we had imagined. But instead of feeling disappointed, these two embraced the moment, and so did I. There’s something magical about capturing love in the midst of mist, and let me tell you, the resulting photos were nothing short of ethereal!
I commented over and over again throughout our shoot how much more connected and grounded I felt because of the weather. It made us feel more alive and like children again – exploring the rainy forests and imagine the view beyond the fog. It was remarkable, and I know it wouldn’t have felt this way without the incredible hearts this sweet couple had about it all.

This foggy engagement shoot in the mountains in North Carolina, was an experience like no other. I ADORE rainy, moody weather, but it makes sense that it’s not for everyone – especially when you are getting your pictures take. And YET, if you lean in and roll with it, you can get some of the most beautiful photographs.
