One of the hardest aspects to having a wedding is wanting the jaw-dropping backdrop that being in the wilderness can provide. To have an elopement means being able to have more freedom to roam, BUT doing so usually means sacrificing having a bigger wedding with your people.
McLain + John felt that tension immensely.
Until an idea so perfect came to life:
Have a wedding back home with your people, travel to Western North Carolina for your honeymoon, get dressed back up during that time, and runaway to the mountains of Asheville to recreate your dream of an elopement.
More time, more ease, and space to breath with one another as the time belongs to only you.
Together.
These two chose a beautiful mountain bald nestled within the Pisgah National Forest and it felt like we had the mountain to ourselves. It was a perfect even to celebrate, reflect, and take in the setting sun.
One of my favorite details:
McLain’s dress was still dirty from their wedding day, and we got it even more so running through the grass and dirt – it carefree and joyful – evening a wedding celebration should be.
It was pure PERFECTION.
